John 15:1-17 Bearing fruit. Let us find out what our Lord is teaching us. NKJV

V5,8 bear fruit - This is to My Father's glory that you bear MUCH fruit.

SEE. (note that in a lot of versions, the word 'remain').

See how many times the expression “abide” appears.

  1. V4 abide in ME.
  2. V4 abides in the Vine.
  3. V5 he who abides in ME.
  4. V6 does not abide in ME.
  5. V7 if you abide in ME.
  6. V9 abide in MY Love.
  7. V10 you will abide in MY Love. Note two things here: 1. Because we are doing the will of our Lord “result “you will abide in My love”. 2. He is giving us His own example.

Verses to consider:

1. Matthew 7:16,20 "By their fruits you will know them."

2. Romans 7:4 "that we should bear fruit to God." Not “might” as some version reads.

  1. V2 does not bear
  2. V2 that bears
  3. V2 that it may bear more
  4. V4 cannot bear fruit by itself.
  5. V5 bears MUCH
  6. V8 By this My Father is glorified that you bear MUCH

1. Fruit of Righteousness:

The word righteousness is the character or quality of being right or just. This must be in accordance with our Lord and His word.

  • Philippians 1:11 ..."being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God" And those are the results that brings praise and glory to our God.
  • Revelation 19:7,8 to be read.

2. Fruit of light:

  • This fruit is part of the way the person displays these three characteristics. IN Ephesians 5:9 "Now the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth."

3. Fruit of the Spirit:

LOVE - JOY - PEACE - PATIENCE - KINDNESS - GOODNESS - FAITHFULNESS - GENTLENESS - SELF-CONTROL.

In one of the lessons “how Important is the Bema Seat of Christ” we spoke briefly of 1 Corinthians 3:12 we learned there of the two type of materials that a believer can use to build with:

  • NOTE: 1, 2, 3 is part of:

“Gold – Silver – precious Stones anything that brings glory to Christ.

“Wood – Hay – Straw” anything that satisfies self.

In John 15:16 go and bear fruit connect with Matthew 28:16-20.
