A very good morning to you my precious family and friends

Don’t you love it that the Bible is full of promises - hundreds of truths for our faith to be founded on. While Scripture truths are meant to encourage us to walk our journey with confidence, fear often overtakes us and we struggle to find peace in the middle of anxiety and struggles.  I am continuing to share some more of my favourite promises of God to cling to every day.

1. The Promise of Wisdom

James 1:5-6 promises "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind."

There are some decisions that we face that seem to be "grey" or not right verses wrong. We are left wondering what is the best, or wisest choice. God promises to provide us with wisdom in those moments - freely and abundantly because He is a generous God. He “gives generously to all without reproach.” He is generous with His wisdom and guidance and direction. He doesn't disapprove of us for asking. But there is a condition to this promise; when we ask we need to ask in faith without doubting. When I ask God for wisdom it's because I have faith in who He says He is and what He can do.

2. Guarding Our Hearts and Minds

Philippians 4:6-7 promises, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

When we battle with a struggle, it’s hard sometimes not to worry. Everything within us seems to drift to the “what if’s” and “why’s” in whatever it is we face. God’s words bring life and peace. He understands how prone we are to worry and fear, He reminds us we have to make the choice not to be driven by anxiety.

He calls us to Himself, He reminds us to pray, to choose gratefulness, and to bring all our needs and requests to Him. And the very peace of God, which we can’t even fully understand, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

3. God Will Not Let You Fall

Psalm 37:23-24 promises "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand."

These verses make the steps of life simple and practical. If we delight in the Lord and His way, He will establish our steps. He will lead us and guide us. We don't have to worry and have anxiety over what may come, for when we delight in the Lord Jesus we will not fall because God is holding out His hand!

4. God Will Renew Our Strength

Isaiah 40:31 promises “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

In all those seemingly hopeless situations where we can’t see any way out, when we’re battling the sense of being overwhelmed, God’s power has the greatest  opportunity to shine. It’s in those times when we come to the end of ourselves, and we know we can’t depend on our own abilities, on anything we have, or anyone we know, that we are reminded we are totally and completely reliant on Him. Those times are the most powerful of all. He alone is our strength-giver, the One who lifts us up, so we can keep moving forward in His power and blessing. So, if you’re struggling with weariness and anxiety, God is able to renew your strength and bring refreshment to your spirit.

5. I will be your God throughout your lifetime

Isaiah 46 verse 4 promises ‘I will be your God throughout your lifetime - until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.’

This is one of those very reassuring promises from God’s Word.  He undertakes to be your God throughout your lifetime. There is never a moment when He is not there, or when He has left you.  He will care for you, He will carry you and He will save you. We can trust Him to do this.

Let us pray

Lord our God and heavenly Father, thank You for all of the promises that You have made which we can cling to every day. You are a faithful God who never leaves nor abandons us. Thank You that You are always with me and I need never fear.  Thank You that You remain the One Who cares, carries, and rescues me. I worship You Lord. In Your precious name I pray. Amen.

Much love to you from Maurice and Margaret
