Meaning: Bema – Tribunal
Only for believers, Paul is talking to those who have accepted the sacrifice of Christ for the forgiveness of their sin. And they are running the Race of Faith.
V10 “we ALL have to appear before Christ”
V10 “that EACH one may receive the things done in the body”
V10 “whether good or bad.”
V11 “Knowing the “terror” the “fear” of the Lord.’ Please note Hebrews 10:31 “It is a fearful thing (a terrifying thing) to fall into the hands of the Living God.”
V11 ‘We persuade men” – so actions to be done by us, who understand the implications.
V10 “as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation,”
“and another builds on it”
“But let each one take heed how he builds on it”
V11 Important verse.
V12 Two type of materials that a believer can use:
“gold – silver – precious stones” anything that brings glory to Christ,
“wood – hay – straw” anything that satisfies self.
V13 “each one’s WORK will become clear”
“for the Day will declare it” – Day of Christ, see 2 Cor. 5:10
“because it will be revealed by fire
“and the fire will test each one’s WORK,
“of what sort it is; Please note Hebrews. 12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire.”
V14 “If anyone’s WORK
“he will receive a reward.”
V15 “If anyone’s WORK is burned,
“he will suffer loss
“but he himself will be saved
“yet so as through fire
So, Conclusion: Are you going to have something or things in your hands to present to Him when you will face Him?
Will you be able to hear the “well done, good and faithful servant”? Matthew 25:23.
